RUSTON, La. - After a strong showing this past weekend at its home tournament, Louisiana Tech will hit the road midweek to take on the Ladyjacks of Stephen F. Austin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shelton Gym in Nacogdoches, Texas.
The Lady Techsters (4-3) were 2-1 over the weekend with wins over in-state foes McNeese State and New Orleans and a tough four-set loss to Western Michigan. Tech will come into tomorrow's road match having won three of its last four matches.
The last time LA Tech met up with Stephen F. Austin (5-2), the Ladyjacks recorded a straight-sets victory over the Lady Techsters in 2008. Tech last defeated SFA in 2003 when the Techsters came out on top in a 3-2 match that went the distance.
"This match will be a great opportunity for us to play against a very strong opponent and compete against a team who will make us work hard," head coach Adriano de Souza said. "This is exactly what we are looking for at this time of our preparation for Conference USA."
Over the weekend, the Ladyjacks lost two out of three matches at the Central Florida Tournament in Orlando, Fla. SFA played three five-set matches and recorded a victory over Elon and two losses to George Washington and Central Florida.
Junior outside hitter Rebecca Redgen, who represented LA Tech on the all-tournament team last weekend in Arlington, leads the Lady Techsters with 98 kills and 3.50 kills per set in seven matches. Redgen has totaled double-digits in kills in the last six matches the Lady Techsters have played this season.
Redgen is paired with Xzache Mathis, a junior outside hitter, who is second on the team with 71 kills and 2.73 per set. Mathis represented Louisiana Tech on the all-tournament team this past weekend in Ruston.
The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Shelton Gym and live stats will be available via Gametracker for fans following along online.
