The Lady Techsters are currently 3-8 and will play their last non-conference match of the 2012 campaign against the Lady Demons before hosting UT Arlington in the conference home opener Saturday at 2 p.m.
After dropping the final two matches of last weekend's tournament in Hammond, La., head coach Adriano de Souza said his team is looking to stay focused ahead of the busy week scheduled.
"We have another important week ahead of us with two matches against two strong opponents," he said. "Our players are looking forward to compete again, and in the same week, we will finish our preseason competition."
Northwestern State is 5-4 on the season with its latest match resulting in three straight wins in its latest tournament, the Texas Arlington Hilton Invitational.
The match tomorrow night will mark the first for the Lady Demons on their home court in Prather Coliseum after playing nine straight road matches.
"I expect our players to continue to practice the same thing we do every day in our gym," de Souza said. "We need to keep developing our game performance improving our preparation, communication and effort in every play."
The Techsters continue to be paced offensively by sophomore setter Maria Coelho, who has recorded 309 assists in 11 games. Coelho is coming off an all-tournament selection in the Tangi Tourism Lion Classic this past weekend, which is her second tournament honor of the season.
Junior Emily Maher has also added 67 kills for Tech, while averaging 1.97 a set to lead the Lady Techsters in attacking.
