Volleyball to Host Grambling State
The Lady Techsters look to add to their new two-match win streak by hosting the Grambling State University Tigers in a single match at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center tomorrow.
Tech recently competed in the Mercer Tournament in Macon, Ga. on Sept. 9-10, going 3-1 for the weekend and placing second in the tournament. Sophomore Shannon Phillips was nominated to the all-tournament team, and she will be looked upon to lead Tech into the bout with the Tigers, as she averaged 3.91 kills per game in five matches last week.
Junior Ambra Hayes registered 3.94 kills per game in the tournament, raising her season average to 3.68. Junior Anielle Da Silva showed her potential at last week's tournament, posting 60 kills in 17 games for a 3.53 kills per game average.
Sophomore Maria Romanowski played the majority of the tournament at setter, as she had 173 assists in 15 games for an 11.53 average.
Tech's defense ranks third in the Western Athletic Conference in opponent hitting percentage at .146, and the Lady Techsters are second in the WAC with 2.07 aces per game.
After Tech's match with Grambling State tomorrow night, the Lady Techsters will travel to Alabama for the Troy Tournament on Sept. 16-17, hosted by Troy State University.
