RUSTON, La. - For the second time this season, Louisiana Tech (5-7) will take on I-20 foe Grambling State (2-5) in its return home from a five-match road trip at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston.
The Lady Techsters were 1-3 over the weekend with the lone win coming Friday over Southern, but despite the losses, LA Tech put up a fight in all three matches and came just short of victory on several occasions.
As for the Lady Tigers, Grambling will make the short trip down the interstate to face LA Tech after a 2-5 start to the season.
LA Tech leads the all-time series 24-1 over the Lady Tigers with the last meeting coming on the first day of the 2013 season and resulting in a straight sets win for the Lady Techsters at the UTA Hilton Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
Junior outside hitter Rebecca Redgen leads the Lady Techsters with 162 kills and 3.31 per set in 12 matches in 2013. Redgen has totaled double-digits in kills in 10 matches she has played this season and most recently made the all-tournament team at the Tangi Tourism Lion Classic this past weekend.
Junior setter Maria Coelho is putting together a successful 2013 campaign as she leads the team in assists (437), assists per set (8.74) and service aces (24), and is second on the squad with 20 total blocks on the season. Senior Caitlin Germany leads the team in blocks (28) and blocks per set (0.62).
Alejandra Aviles, another representative for LA Tech on the last weekend's all-tournament team, is leading the team in digs with 153 and digs per set with 3.48 as a true freshman for de Souza and the Lady Techsters.
