RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team (3-10, 0-1 WAC) will hit the road for the team's first conference road trip of the season to battle the Aggies of New Mexico State at 8 p.m. CST, Thursday in a match that will be shown live on ESPN3.
The Lady Techsters will face a team that is 8-3 in the regular season and 2-0 in conference play in New Mexico State in the team's second Western Athletic Conference match of the season.
"We have a great opportunity to improve our game by playing against two very good opponents this week," he said. "Our players are looking forward to competing and I am confident they will continue to learn to make adjustments to our game."
Tech is coming off a competitive four-set loss to UT Arlington on the team's home court last Saturday in a match that saw three different Techsters record 10 or more kills in a single match for the first time this season.
Freshman Fenix Calderon recorded her first career double-double in last week's match against the Mavericks recording 13 kills and 10 digs on the day. Junior Clara Vido totaled 15 kills and 22 digs in the match to record her second double-double of the season and the 16th of her career.
Sophomore Maria Coelho also recorded 42 assists against UT Arlington, matching her career best from earlier in the season against South Alabama.
Tech will face an Aggie team that is ranked No. 1 in the WAC rankings and lead the conference in hitting percentage (.232). New Mexico State also ranks second in the conference standings in blocks (119.5 total) and service aces (1.38/game).
The match against the Aggies will air live on ESPN3 Thursday at 8 p.m. CST, while live stats will be available online by accessing the link on the schedule page.
