Tech Volleyball Traveling to Nevada for WAC Play
RENO, Nev. -- The Louisiana Tech volleyball team (5-13; 0-2 WAC) will play their first road conference matches of the season beginning Thursday night at 9 p.m. against Nevada (7-6; 1-0 WAC).
“The girls are excited,” Tech head coach Heather Mazeitis said. “They’ve been working to correct the mistakes made against Boise and Idaho this past week. I’m expecting them to do better this week.”
The Lady Techsters were down at home against Boise State Thursday night in a five-game match where junior Shannon Phillips knocked down a career high 30 kills. The junior leads the conference in double-doubles with 16 out of 18 matches played. The Techsters then played Idaho Saturday night where the Vandals were the victors in four games.
After Nevada, Tech will travel to Logan, Utah, to take on the Utah State Lady Aggies (9-7; 2-0) Saturday night at 8 p.m.
Coach Mazeitis said even after the losses, she expects her girls to play well on the road this weekend.
“The girls have remained positive,” Mazeitis said. “They’re confident that they’re going to do a great job.”
