RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech is looking to get back on track in Conference USA play as the Lady Techsters hit the road to face Charlotte at 7 p.m. Friday and a 1 p.m. match in Huntington, W.Va., to take on Marshall Sunday.
These matches are the beginning of a three-match conference road stretch that will see LA Tech traveling up the coast the following week to face East Carolina in Greenville, N.C. on Oct. 11.
The Lady Techsters continue to notch that elusive road victory as the team is now 0-4 away from its home court in the Thomas Assembly Center. LA Tech will also be looking to break a four-game losing streak dating back to a Sept. 20 loss at Central Arkansas.
Another streak that continues to loom for the Techsters is a 34-match conference losing streak, which dates back to the final match of the 2010 season in what was a five-set win over then WAC foe Nevada.
Junior outside hitter Rebecca Redgen leads the Lady Techsters with 213 kills and and average of 3.18 in 17 matches in her first season with the team. Redgen has totaled double-digits in kills in 13 of 17 matches she has played this season. Xzache Mathis is close behind with 207 kills and a team-leading 3.34 per set.
As a team, Louisiana Tech continues to lead all Conference USA teams in service aces per set with 1.93. That average also ranks the Lady Techsters 20th in the nation in aces per set.
Scouting the 49ers
Charlotte (10-7, 0-2 C-USA) returns home to its home court in Halton Arena to host LA Tech after a disappointing start to Conference USA play last weekend with back-to-back road losses to FIU and Florida Atlantic. With a 10-7 overall mark coming into the weekend, the 49ers are still searching for the team's first win as a member of C-USA, a feat the Lady Techsters are looking to accomplish as well. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Scouting the Thundering Herd
LA Tech will travel to Huntington, W.Va. following Friday night's match and face off against Marshall (8-9, 0-2 C-USA) at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Cam Henderson Center to wrap up the action-packed weekend. The Thundering Herd are coming off consecutive wins over Conference USA's Florida duo in FIU and Florida Atlantic last weekend in road contests. This will also be the first ever meeting between these two teams.
