RUSTON, La. - After two straight road matches, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team (3-16, 0-7 WAC) will return home to battle Seattle and Idaho in back-to-back contests at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Tech will kick off the home stand and take on conference newcomer Seattle(6-11, 1-6) Thursday night in the two teams' first ever match up, and look to notch its first WAC win of the season on the team's home court.
The Lady Techsters are in the midst of a 10-match losing streak and coming off two straight-set losses to UTSA and Texas State on the road.
Despite the results the team has been getting, head coach Adriano de Souza expects his players to show up ready to play against the two conference opponents as the team makes its return to the Thomas Assembly Center for four straight home matches in the coming weeks.
"It is great to be back and playing at home this weekend," he said. "I am sure our players our looking forward to competing again. I hope all of our LA Tech sports fans come out in support of our volleyball team this week."
Following the match against the Redhawks, the Techsters will then turn right around and battle the Idaho Vandals (7-10, 5-2 WAC) at 7 p.m. Friday. The match against the Vandals was originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13, but due to scheduling conflicts with the Louisiana Tech football game against Texas A&M that night, the contest was pushed up to accommodate both teams.
Idaho holds a 14-0 record against the Lady Techsters, most recently knocking Tech off twice last season in straight sets in conference action.
Admission to both matches is free for both students and fans, and refreshments will be provided free of charge courtesy of Aramark.
