San Jose State Defeats Tech Volleyball in Three Games


The San Jose State Spartans defeated the Lady Techsters three games to none (30-26, 30-24, 30-24) in Western Athletic Conference action in San Jose, Calif. tonight.

Tech fell to 14-8 overall and 1-5 in the WAC, while San Jose upped its record to 8-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Once again, it was the junior duo of Ambra Hayes and Anielle Da Silva who led the Lady Techsters' offense, hitting 17 kills and 14 kills, respectively. Sophomore Shannon Phillips had eight kills with only 19 attacks and hit a .211 attack percentage.

Sophomore Maria Romanowski played the entire match at setter and recorded 33 assists, while sophomore Carly Johnson had three kills and five blocks. Freshman libero Meghan Haas led Tech's defense with 10 digs.

The Lady Techsters will play next at Fresno State - the only WAC team Tech has beaten this year - on Saturday at 7 p.m.
