Techsters Keep Tight Match in Loss
RUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (6-19; 1-11 WAC) could not hold off the Nevada Wolf Pack (10-8; 7-4 WAC) Saturday evening in the Lambright Intramural Center and lost by scores of 21-30, 29-31 and 24-30.
Senior Shannon Phillips seemed to end game two with a kill which would have given Tech a 30-28 win but was whistled for going into the net on an attack error. Nevada rattled off three straight points to win and ended up winning the match.
Phillips led Tech with 16 kills and nine digs, while junior Brittney Nakamura tallied 15 digs for the Techsters. Freshman Taylor Fritz made her second consecutive start and finished with 10 digs. Senior Kristen Fairbanks finished the night with eight kills and digs.
The Techsters will return to the road to take on Hawaii Sunday, Oct. 28, at 9 p.m.
