Techsters Downed in Five Games in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. -- The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (6-19; 0-8 WAC) lost a five-game match to the Fresno State Lady Bulldogs (4-16; 2-7 WAC) Saturday afternoon in the Save Mart Center.
“We out-blocked and out-dug them, and once again, we lose,” Tech head coach Heather Mazeitis said. “We tend to lose our confidence and focus, and we did that near the end of the match tonight.”
The Lady Bulldogs took the first game 30-26, but the Techsters bounced back and took two games in a row 30-20 and 30-27.
Fresno answered with a 30-26 win in game four, and in game five, the Lady Bulldogs held on for the win 15-8.
Junior Shannon “The Cannon” Phillips led the Techsters with 18 kills and 20 digs for her 18th double-double this season. Senior Ambra Hayes added 17 kills and 10 digs for her tenth double-double of the season. Both Phillips and Hayes led the conference in double-doubles.
Freshman Samantha Crowder added 13 kills, while junior Kristen Fairbanks finished with 11. Junior Jenny Denton totaled 55 assists, and sophomore Brittney Nakamura finished with 20 digs.
The Techsters return home for a pair of matches beginning with Utah State Thursday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center. The match will be broadcast live on KLPI 89.1 FM and on WAC.tv for $5.95.
