RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will hit the road briefly this weekend to battle conference leader Tulsa at 7 p.m. Friday at Reynolds Center in Tulsa, Okla., and attempt to break a four-match losing streak before returning home to host FIU at 1 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Gym in the team's annual Dig Pink match.

LA Tech (7-15, 1-6 C-USA) is coming off two losses at home to Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss last weekend, while Tulsa enters Friday night's contest at 18-4 and a 7-0 league record. The Golden Hurricane has won 10 of its last 11 matches with wins over East Carolina and Charlotte most recently.

"This Friday we have a great opportunity to continue improving our game as we play Tulsa," head coach Adriano de Souza. "They are a very well-prepared team and ranked 36th in the nation. We have had good practices this week and our players are looking forward for this next match."


Averaging 8.72 assists per set and ranked 12th in C-USA, Coelho, a Brazilian native, has assisted her teammates a total of 752 times in 2013). Coelho currently leads the team with 39 aces and is ranked 21st in the nation in aces per set with 0.45. As a team, LA Tech is ranked 11th nationally and 1st in C-USA with 1.74 aces/set.

Junior outside hitter Xzache Mathis leads the Lady Techsters with 270 total kills in 22 matches in her first season with the team. Mathis has a team-leading 3.51 kills per set and recently moved into a tie for fourth place in team history for kills in a single match with 28 vs. SFA. Rebecca Redgen is second on the team with 253 kills and has totaled double-digit kills in 15 of the 22 matches she has played this season.

Freshman Alejandra Aviles continues to lead the team in digs and digs per set with 271 and 3.61, respectively, as well as ranking 14th in the league in digs per set as a freshman.

Senior Caitlin Germany leads the team in blocks and blocks per set with 63 and 0.81, while sophomore Dalane Guidry is right behind her with 50 total blocks in 2013.

Following the match Friday at Tulsa, LA Tech will return home to play hosts to the Panthers of FIU at 1 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Gym. Sunday's contest will mark the Lady Techsters' annual Dig Pink match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Free pink LA Tech T-shirts will be given away to fans upon entering the gymnasium while supplies last.
