Techsters Set to Face Vandals in Moscow

Match begins at 9 p.m. Thursday at Idaho

RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team will embark on its final road trip of the 2012 campaign beginning with a trip to Moscow, Idaho to face the Vandals at 9 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Gym.

The Techsters are starting a three-game road stretch where they will travel to Idaho, Seattle and UT Arlington to finish the season.

The Lady Techsters have never won a match against the host Vandals, as Idaho is 15-0 against Tech all time, including a straight-set loss earlier this season in the Thomas Assembly Center.

Vandals Rob Techsters of Victory
The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (3-18, 0-9 WAC) stayed competitive throughout a tight three-set loss to conference foe Idaho Friday night as the visiting Vandals stole a win by a score of 25-23, 25-16, 25-23 in the Thomas Assembly Center.

LA Tech will face an Idaho team that is fourth in the Western Athletic Conference standings with a 10-5 record in conference action. With an 18-game losing streak, the Techsters are in 10th place in the standings and looking to end the streak with a win over the Vandals.

Tech is led offensively by junior outside hitter Clara Vido and freshman Fenix Calderon who have totaled 211 and 124 kills respectively, while Vido leads the team in kills per set with 2.40. Defensively, junior Caitlin Germany and sophomore Maria Coelho lead the charge with 57 total blocks for Germany and 56 for Coelho.

After the match against Idaho, the Techsters will travel to Seattle to face the Redhawks at 9 p.m. Saturday in the second meeting between the two teams this season. The match earlier this season marked the first and only five-set match the Techsters forced.
