Nia Myah Johnson
Our first senior transferred to Louisiana Tech from Tyler Junior College last season as a junior. In 2016, she played in 75 sets while registering 95 kills, 95 digs and 18 blocks. She ended her junior year with at least one kill in each of the final seven matches of the season. For her career as a Techster, she has accumulated 148 kills, 146 digs and 33 total blocks. She is accompanied by her mother, Lia Johnson. A native of Houston, Texas, number 11, Nia Myah Johnson!
Our next senior joined the Louisiana Tech program as a freshman in 2014 and has played in 367 sets over her career. She currently leads the team with an average of 2.95 digs per set this season. Off the court, this Lady Techster has earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic team in each of her first three seasons, as she has maintained a perfect. 4.00 GPA as a Kinesiology and Health Promotion major. For her career she has accumulated 945 digs, good for a four-year average of 2.57 digs per set. She is accompanied by her parents, Brett and Monica McClure. Marta Monne Our next senior joined the Lady Techsters as a freshman in 2013. After suffering a season-ending knee injury just her fourth-career match, she battled back in 2014 to start in 15 matches. In 2015, she quickly established herself as one of Tech’s most lethal outside hitters, leading all players with 261 kills and 3.07 kills per set. As a junior last season, she was one of just two players in Conference USA to register over 300 kills and 300 digs during the regular season. She also became the first Techster since 2010 to receive first team all-Louisiana honors. She once again leads the Tech offense this season with 299 kills and 3.25 kills per set. At this point of her career, she has totaled 954 kills along with 899 digs. She is accompanied by her uncle, Donato Monne, close family friend, Alberta Perticucci and her mother Paola Restelli. A native of Milan, Italy, number 8, Marta Monne!
Our final senior came to Ruston in 2014 and has played in 365 sets over her career. Over her four years at Tech, she has totaled 2,564 assists, 689 digs and 77 service aces. Earlier this season, she entered the LA Tech history books with her 2,000th career assist in a win over Jackson State. Also this season, she set a new career high with 62 assists, which was the seventh most helpers by any Conference USA player this season. Joined by her parents, Mark and Rochelle Short.
