NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Louisiana Tech’s cross country squad will return to action after an 11-day rest by running at the Northwestern State Demon Invitational on the Walter Ledet Track Complex on NSU’s campus Friday, Oct. 12. The last time the Bulldogs were in action was actually at the first Northwestern Invitational Oct. 1 when Tech finished second place overall thanks to running from juniors Jace Benoit and Cory Denstel. “I’m very pleased with how Denstel and Benoit ran,” Tech head coach Gary Stanley said of his runners from last wek. “Overall, young guys ran well. I don’t say I’m pleased too often getting second place, but we’ve made an awful lot of progress with this team.” Denstel posted a time of 26 minutes, 54 seconds on the eight-kilometer course at the Demon Hills Golf Course while Benoit finished shortly behind at 26:59.52. The next highest finisher for Tech would be freshman Kyle Davis fifteenth overall at 28:16.63, while freshman Steven Cortez finished 28:48.95 for twenty-first place. Freshman David Monroe rounded out Tech finishers at twenty-fourth place with a time of 29:07.84. It will be the men’s final meet before the 2007 WAC Championships in Logan, Utah, Oct. 27. |
