Benoit, Denstel Earn All-LSWA Honors

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Juniors Jace Benoit and Cory Denstel were named to the 2007 All-LSWA Cross Country team released Wednesday night by the Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association.

Denstel earned the 2007 Newcomer of the Year award after a successful campaign in his first season competing for the Bulldogs. Denstel finished ninth at the 2007 Mook 4 Invitational with a time of 21 minutes, 49 seconds. His highest finish this season was a second place finish at the Northwestern Invitational running a time of 26:54.

Benoit also had a good year for the Bulldogs after starting the season by taking sixth in the 2007 Mook 4 Invitational home opener at 21:19. Benoit also finished third place twice this season; first at the Northwestern Invitational at 26:59.52 and against at the Demon Invitational at 21:10.

Tech was one of only two schools to place two runners on the squad this year. Both Benoit and Denstel will return next season to a senior-heavy cross country team in 2008.
