Robert Mack Caruthers Field
The Lady Techster Soccer Complex -- located along Alabama Avenue -- completed its 10th season of existence in 2018 as the home field for the Louisiana Tech soccer team.
That would be its last year of service as an EF-3 tornado ripped through the City of Ruston and the Louisiana Tech University campus on the morning of April 25, 2019, destroying several facilities, including that of soccer.
On November 21 of that year, University officials presented a ray of sunlight in releasing the renderings and plans for the complete rebuild of the soccer facility, moving back to its original home during the program's inaugural season in 2004 on the intramural field across from the Lambright Center along Tech Drive. Â
With construction officially beginning in March of 2020, Robert Mack Caruthers Field -- named in honor of former Petroleum Engineering professor Dr. Robert Caruthers -- opened on Aug. 20, 2021 on a picture-perfect Friday night as the Bulldogs defeated East Texas Baptist by a final score of 9-0, the most goals ever scored in a season opener. Lauren Ebuloniu will be remembered as the first Bulldog to score at the new facility, notching the first goal in the 13th minute.
LA Tech won its first three matches at "The Mack" and ended up finishing the 2021 season with a 4-3-1 home record. The Bulldogs followed that up with a 5-2-2 mark, including a 3-1-1 record during conference play. In 2023, the facility hosted the Conference USA Women's Soccer Championship, the first time hosting a league tournament since 2010. The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a 1-0 shutout victory over WKU in front of 415 fans, advancing to the semifinals for the first time since 2018.
The playing surface is natural grass and is fully enclosed with retaining walls and fencing. The total seating capacity is 500 with stands comprised of bleacher-style seating with backs and grass berms on either end.Â
The pressbox houses the in-house game operations along with visiting team media. Cameras are installed for analytics and online streaming. Restrooms and concessions are available on the west end of the field.
